Documents and files
Need to show a file existed, unchanged, by a date?
Add any file: a signed agreement, a letter you sent, a report, a recording, a spreadsheet. It is fingerprinted on your phone or computer, and never uploaded. You get a free receipt. Later, anyone can check the files existed, unchanged, by that day.
Your files never leave your phone or computer. We only receive the set's fingerprint, a code worked out from the files that can't be turned back into them.
Why record it
The dates in a file's details can change when it is copied, sent or uploaded, and they can be edited.
This receipt's date is tied to what is in the file, not to its details. Change a single character and the file no longer matches, so the receipt shows it is the same file.
Tips
- Add each file exactly as you will keep it. Editing or re-saving it later, even without changing a word, means it no longer matches the receipt.
- Each file keeps its name as its note, so the receipt says which is which. You can change the note.
What a receipt proves
A receipt proves that these exact files existed, unchanged, by the time shown on the receipt.
What it doesn't prove
- It does not prove that what a file shows or says is true, or that a scene was not staged.
- It does not prove who took the photos or made the files, or where.
- It is not legal advice. Whoever settles a dispute, such as a deposit scheme, a court or a hire company, decides what evidence it accepts.
