Made something? Show it existed by a date.
Add drafts as you go and the finished piece: a manuscript, a song, artwork, designs, photos of your work, code. Each file is fingerprinted on your phone or computer, and never uploaded. You get a free receipt. Later, anyone can check the files existed, unchanged, by that day.
Your files never leave your phone or computer. We only receive the set's fingerprint, a code worked out from the files that can't be turned back into them.
Why record it
In the UK, copyright comes automatically: there is no register to apply to. So if someone later says they made it first, the date your work existed matters.
A receipt shows your files existed, unchanged, by that day. It doesn't show who made them, so keep your drafts too.
When the work is finished, choose "Finished work" and link it to a work-in-progress set. The receipt names the set it follows, so your drafts and the final version form a dated trail.
Tips
- Timestamp drafts as you go, not only the finished piece. A trail of dated versions says more than one file.
- Keep each file exactly as you added it. An exported or re-saved copy, even one that looks the same, won't match the receipt.

What a receipt proves
A receipt proves that these exact files existed, unchanged, by the time shown on the receipt.
What it doesn't prove
- It does not prove that what a file shows or says is true, or that a scene was not staged.
- It does not prove who took the photos or made the files, or where.
- It is not legal advice. Whoever settles a dispute, such as a deposit scheme, a court or a hire company, decides what evidence it accepts.
